| February 2, 2005 I hope you are enjoying the winter. Sounds like perfect quilting weather for all of you in the cold temperature states. It evokes memories of my early years learning to quilt in Iowa. During the past year I traveled about 2 weeks each month to different quilting shows or guilds (and on one cruise) to teach. The year sure went by quickly and I have a lot of fond memories of all the people I met along the way. My biggest adventure of the last several years has been co-hosting the Quilt Central TV show. We've had a lot of fun (and work) taping at the Paducah Kentucky studio and on location at quilt shows. I hope you are enjoying watching the show and we are always interested in your comments or suggestions for future programming. If you are not getting the show on your PBS station, you might call your local station manager. To see if the show is aired in your location, go to www.PBS.org and enter your zip code on the left side of the screen to find your local stations. You can also email your local station manager from there. Quilt Central is involved with Quilting Cruises and you can find information about these on my web site. Our next one is to Alaska on June 19. The independent cruise director emailed you information about the cruises yesterday. I apologize for the mistake in timing, that you received her letter before mine. I've spent a large part of the past two years working on my 9th book. It is entitled Contemporary Quilting, co-authored with Stevii Graves, and will be released at Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City at the end of April. I think you will enjoy its historical overview (with excellent comments from some of our most famous contemporary quilters), step-by-step projects and a huge glorious gallery of contemporary quilts. My new year has already started with wonderful teaching adventures. I just returned home from 3 days in (brrrrrrr) snowy Chicago at the Northwest Quilters guild, and also a week at Quilting in the Desert in Phoenix. I had a wonderful time at both locations and especially enjoyed working with so many quilters. Many of you have been asking when I'll be teaching in your area. You can always have your local quilting guild contact me for my teaching information. Here is my schedule for the next several months. Please let me know if you want contact information for any of the events. February 2005 |
